Mother Teresa to Be Made a Saint on Sept. 4th

Mother Teresa
The date of Blessed Mother Teresa’s canonization has been announced. It will occur on Sept. 4th of this year, a day which also marks a special jubilee for workers and volunteers of mercy. The Vatican made the announcement following a March 15th consistory of cardinals. A CNA/EWTN report briefly summarizes Mother's life and work:
Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu Aug. 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia. After joining the Sisters of Loretto at age 17, she was sent to Calcutta, where she later contracted tuberculosis, and was sent to rest in Darjeeling.
On the way, she felt what she called “an order” from God to leave the convent and live among the poor.
After she left her convent, Mother Teresa began working in the slums, teaching poor children, and treating the sick in their homes. A year later, some of her former students joined her, and together they took in men, women and children who were dying in the gutters along the streets. ...
The consistory also determined the canonization dates of four other blesseds: Bl. Maria Elisabetta Hesselblad [June 5], Bl. Jose Sanchez del Rio [Oct. 16], Bl. Stanislaus of Jesus Mary [June 5] and Bl. Jose Gabriel del Rosario Brochero [Oct. 16].

Prayer for the Intercession of Blessed Mother Teresa

Jesus, you made Blessed Teresa an example,
of humility, charity and selflessness.
She taught us that every human life
has value and dignity.
May we follow her in heeding
Your cry of thirst from the Cross,
and in loving the poorest of the poor.
Grant us, by her intercession,
and according to Your will,
the graces we implore...,
hoping that she will soon be
numbered among Your saints.

We ask this in Your name,
through the intercession of Mary,
Your Mother and the Mother of us all. Amen.
